A*Men Pure Malt Mugler cologne. I had a long, long, looong review here just a few days ago, but I've decided to start from scratch now that I've worn it three days in a row. Here are my thoughts, and my first one is probably most important to people reading this: This is truthfully NOTHING (or *almost* nothing) like the original A*Men!

For the studios, a good new idea has become just too scary a road to travel. Inception, they will tell you, is an exceptional movie. And movies that need to be. Directed by Donald Petrie. A*Men has a bakery/coffee shop sort of sweetness about it in its drydown that is intoxicating to many people, including myself. Pure Malt features more of a candy shop sort of sweetness. Right off the bat, Pure Malt hits you with berries - - to my nose, that's the definite dominate note. Under that there may be a little woody element there and a very, VERY small whiskey- ish quality, but for the most part, it's fruity sweetness. Upon drydown, Pure Malt is very, very similar - - it does not change much, unlike the original A*Men, which has a drastic difference in smell. For Pure Malt, the fruitiness fades just a tick, while a little vanilla/.

Because Pure Malt is so heavy on these sweet aromas and there's little about it that *feels* masculine, I definitely see this as a unisex fragrance - - much moreso than A*Men, which has a patchouli note that makes it come off as manly, to me. The projection and longevity with Pure Malt are, in my opinion, perfectly on- par with A*Men.

I know some people say A*Men is stronger, but this is probably identical - - projects very well, and longevity? Man, this stuff can go for days (almost literally).

With Pure Malt, it's relatively one- note through out. To follow that, my second reason I prefer A*Men is that Pure Malt is just a little too sweet for me. A*Men is obviously a sweet, gourmond fragrance as well, but the patchouli note in it kind of balances it all out. With Pure Malt it's fruit, vanilla, and some woodiness - - all of which add a kind of . Additionally, I find this fragrance to be sweeter than A*Men with less depth on the whole.
